5 Ways To Use Epsom Salts In Your Garden

We use Epsom salts to relax and unwind after a busy work week. Sometimes, we soak in a bathtub full of them, and other times we just choose to soak our feet. No matter how it's used, it has a refreshing and rejuvenating feeling to it.
What if it could have the same effect on your garden? It can.
Here are 12 ways to use Epsom salts in the garden! After all, your fruits, vegetables, and flowers deserve to look and feel their best too!

1. Get sweeter fruit

Mixing a quarter cup of Epsom salt with water for every 500 ft.² of planting area will help your fruits to retain more nutrients, and even taste sweeter! Imagine how much better your pies could taste! My personal favorite is apple. What about yours?

2.Tastier tomatoes

Epsom salts give tomatoes more magnesium, resulting in more flavor. Also, if you add a teaspoon of salts to every tomato plant, it will help keep the vines healthy and prevent rotting. All this talk about tomatoes has got me wanting spaghetti and meatballs now! What is your favorite tomato filled dish?

3. Plentiful peppers

Similar to tomatoes, adding Epsom salt to peppers will increase the magnesium levels which will result in a spicier pepper! Epsom salt will also improve the production of peppers, so you'll be getting a lot more than you bargained for. I don't like foods that are too hot, but that's one way to spice things up! What is your favorite hot dish incorporating peppers?

4. Don't shock your plants

Just like us, plants can have trouble adapting to new environments place your plant in its desired spot, and then make some holes around it to insert the Epsom salt. It makes perfect sense when you think about it because we use Epsom salts to relax our bodies, or wind down after a busy work week. Now, all I can think about is a nice warm bath!

5. The grass is always greener

Epsom salts are the equivalent of vitamin D for grass. They will help the grass grow, and stay beautiful and green! You might have to use a lot of it depending on how big your yard is. You can dilute it with water and spray on the grass, or you can use a spreader. I always feel so sorry for grass when it gets dead and brown. It deserves a summer makeover too!
